Our privacy promise

A family tree holds the names, faces and places of people you love — many of whom never signed up for anything. We treat it that way.

What we store

Your account: your name and email address, plus your Google profile name and photo if you sign in with Google. Your trees: the people, relationships, places, notes and photos you add. Basic security logs, such as sign-in times, kept to protect your account.

Who can see a tree

A new tree is visible only to you. It becomes visible to others only when you invite them by email, or turn on “Anyone with the link can view”. You can turn that off, or replace the link, at any time — the old link stops working immediately.

On a shared link, living people’s phone number, email, address, exact birth date, notes and custom fields are hidden. Only the year of birth is shown. You can choose to show these details for a particular tree; it is off unless you turn it on.

What we never do

We do not sell, rent or trade your data. We do not show ads. We do not use your family’s information to train AI models or share it with data brokers. Shared-link pages ask search engines not to index them.

Your rights

You can download any tree you own as a file at any time. You can delete a tree, or your whole account — which deletes every tree you own, with its photos and history. These rights follow India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. If someone added you to their tree and you want to be removed, write to [email protected] and we will help.

Services we rely on

Map tiles come from Google Maps (with Esri and OpenStreetMap as alternatives); your browser loads them directly, so those services see which map area is being viewed but not who you are or anything about your tree. Google sign-in, if you use it, is provided by Google. Sign-in codes are emailed through Resend.
